Job Description
- Assisting in the navigation and operation of the ship
- Supervising the work of deck crew members
- Maintaining deck equipment and performing routine maintenance
- Helping to maintain the ship’s safety and security
- Assisting in cargo operations and loading/unloading of the ship
- Standing watch on the bridge and keeping a lookout for hazards
- Participating in emergency drills and procedures
- Performing other duties as assigned by the ship’s captain or officers.
Education & Experience
- Completion of a maritime or marine-related vocational training program, or an apprenticeship
- STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) certification, which is required by international maritime law for all seafarers.
Must Have
- A maritime college or university degree in navigation, marine engineering or other related field
- A valid navigation license and other relevant certifications, such as radar and ARPA (Automatic Radar Plotting Aid) certification
- Medical certification, such as an ENG1 or STCW medical fitness certificate.
