Job Description

• Assisting in the navigation and operation of the ship
• Supervising the work of deck crew members
• Maintaining deck equipment and performing routine maintenance
• Helping to maintain the ship’s safety and security
• Assisting in cargo operations and loading/unloading of the ship
• Standing watch on the bridge and keeping a lookout for hazards
• Participating in emergency drills and procedures
• Performing other duties as assigned by the ship’s captain or officers.

Education & Experience

• Completion of a maritime or marine-related vocational training program, or an apprenticeship
• STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) certification, which is required by international maritime law for all seafarers.

Must Have

• A maritime college or university degree in navigation, marine engineering or other related field
• A valid navigation license and other relevant certifications, such as radar and ARPA (Automatic Radar Plotting Aid) certification
• Medical certification, such as an ENG1 or STCW medical fitness certificate.
